In today’s world most of us have a smartphone in our hand with the convenience of the Internet at the tips of our figures to shop, buy tickets to events, book a hotel room, and so much more. But how many of your clients are booking their rooms on a handheld device such as a smartphone or tablet? Hotel owners and marketers have put a lot of focus into mobile. Making sure clients have easy access to their website while traveling.

D.K. Shifflet and Associates recently conducted a survey on how the general population was booking hotel rooms in 2014 and the results were very interesting.   The majority of people booked rooms using technology based platforms. The greatest number of bookings came using a laptop or desktop computer at 49%.   Only 8% of the population used a smartphone or tablet to book their room.   What was even more suprising was that 43% of the population booked their rooms offline.

While technology is growing and changing at a rapid pace, the population is very confortable and familiar with traditional offline methods of booking a room.   As a hotel owner it is important to balance both the online and offline preferences of their customers.
